Tough Mudder 2016

The Creative Brief

Tough Mudder, the UK’s toughest obstacle course organisers appointed Fonix to supply a full event video production service, including live streaming. This includes a full broadcast to a mobile LED screen, as well as being streamed live on the Tough Mudder website from start to finish. A challenge for Fonix, to make sure that most of the gruelling obstacles are covered, even though they are several miles apart come rain, shine and mud!

The Solution

The Fonix production team created a studio complex whereby using a microwave linked camera, our location crew operate two separate feeds, one for streaming, and one showing images to a large mobile LED screen. Fonix’s social media system was also used to display tweets and facebook comments to encourage the participants and engage the onlookers, making the online and screen experience a whole lot more interactive.

The Results

Using state of the art production equipment, we were able to easily provide multiple outputs for different uses, fulfilling the requirements set by Tough Mudder organisers. The big screen and live internet streaming have become an integral part of Tough Mudder events. Due to this success, Fonix is working closely with the Tough Mudder organisers to help promote this year’s events with the aim to build up the online audience to help grow the event.
