This year’s Bournemouth Air Festival was a complete success for the Fonix team. Over the four days, we streamed over 10 hours a day of live footage. This year for the first time we hosted our very own streaming website Airfestival.tv where live footage of the air festival was watched by over 95,000 people streaming the event online.
There were many great displays on land and at sea over the course of the four days including a live mock beach assault, carried out by the Royal Marines supported by the Royal Navy. Great aerobatic displays wowed spectators on the ground from the RAF Red Arrows, performances from the Spitfire Battle of Britain Memorial Flight; the Tigers parachute team, the B-17 Flying Fortress Sally B, the Blades aerobatic team, Royal Navy Black Cats, the RAF Typhoon fighter and the Breitling Wingwalkers plus much more.
This year marked the 7th year in succession for Fonix as the production and audio visual supplier for the event. Each year we host a VIP hospitality area, where this year we welcomed over 100 clients and other guests to join us and see what we do first hand. As well as providing live streaming and audio for the event, we also had ten LED screens placed around the event showing the live footage and delegate adverts.
Despite challenging weather conditions, the total visitor numbers have been estimated at 702,300 over the course of the weekend; it was a great festival with plenty for all to enjoy. We would like to say a big thank you to all of our clients and guests for joining us, and special thanks to Airfestival.tv sponsors The Royal Navy and U Drive.
Next year marks the big ten year anniversary of the Bournemouth Air Festival.
Don’t forget to put these dates in your diary 31st August – 3rd September 2017 (the weekend after the August Bank Holiday). We hope to see you there!
